Dear SVWA members and friends,
Good News!
We are very pleased to announce that Silicon Valley Women’s 501(c) (3) application got approved. We are now exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We worked very hard for Charity Fund raising from 2005 to 2007 (three years). In 2007, we were proud that Silicon Valley Women raised a total of $18,000 and met our goal of building our own “Silicon Valley ShinShin elementary school" in Sichuan, China!
To better promote our mission of “Charity, Community Service and Culture/Art”, we filed a
501(c) (3) application in the fall of 2008. It involved three mouths of hard work. We revised the SVWA By-Laws, prepared a few years of financial statements and prepared 9 pages of supporting documents that included:
* A statement describing the specific purposes of the organization
* A statement describing details of programs and activities conducted in the past, and those that we will conduct in the future, and
* A statement describing details of the funds raised from 2005 to 2008.
In 2009, we continued our hard work on charity, community service, and culture/art that has qualified us for the approval.
Let’s celebrate the 501(c) (3) approval. It will help our future charity fund raising efforts tremendously.
Many thanks to SVWA members and friends who donated and supported our charity activities in the past years.
Many thanks also to SVWA Team and BOD who worked very hard to achieve the 501(c) (3) approval!
Cheers!
